In 1984, Antara Steel Mills Sdn Bhd. (Formerly known as Sabah Gas Industries) brought on-stream the most advanced Direct Reduction Iron plant in the world in Labuan Island, Malaysia. The technology used is the MIDREX Direct Reduction process, which incorporates a Hot Briquetting unit for the production of highly metallized, low residual Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI).
Antara Steel Mills Jetty is solely operated & managed by Antara Steel Mills Sdn Bhd.
Max DWT : 180,000 mt
Max LOA : 300 m
Max Beam : 48 m
Max Draft : 17.5 m
Tug service is compulsory at Antara Steel Mills Jetty. To assist in the berthing operation for an Iron Ore & HBI vessels, minimum two (2) mooring tugs are required & arrangement can be made through the appointed agent.
Pilotage is compulsory at Antara Steel Mills Jetty. It is the responsibility of all vessels to ensure that the pilot ladder is in good conditions & in a safe position for the boarding of the pilot.
